Marcus Gray Smith

"Marcus Gray Smith, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a resident of Cypress, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2018 at the age of 25.  He was the beloved husband of Laura Muth, beloved son of Dr. John McHugh Smith and Leslie Gray Smith and son-in-law of Maria Sheridan Muth and Donald Paul Muth of Plano, Texas.   He was the loving brother of Michelle Smith Gillespie of Arlington, VA, Natashia Smith Clouatre, Holly Elizabeth Smith and Leigh Ann Smith all of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by his grandmother Charlotte Edwards Gray of Patterson, LA, 12 cousins, 1 nephew, 10 aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall Gray, III, Raymond and Earline Smith.  Marcus was a graduate of Catholic High School where he was on the robotics team.  He continued at LSU achieving a degree in Petroleum Engineering.  He enjoyed carpentry, leatherwork, mechanics, reading, writing, hunting and fishing, horticulture, raising chickens and most importantly, spending time with family and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 5 PM until 8 PM.  The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM.  The Visitation will continue at St. Alphonsus Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 9:30 AM until the 11 AM.  The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM.  Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery #2, 1271 South Washington St., Marksville, LA on Monday at 2:30 PM.  Pallbearers will be Marty Gray, Abe Gray, Robert Standing, Donald Muth, Scott Salinas, Taylor Scrantz, Grant Venable, and Kristian Jessen.
