Wright, Malcolm EdwardMalcolm Edward Wright died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the age of 81. He was born in Welsh, LA on March 4,1934. Malcolm served 20 years active and reserve duty in the United States Marine Corps achieving the rank of Major. He obtained both his B.S. and M.S. degrees from LSU and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in Agricultural Engineering. He taught 10 years on the faculty of Virginia Tech and 20 years at LSU. His career was split between the classroom and research which concentrated on farm machinery. After retirement, Malcolm spent his time woodworking, traveling, and writing. He had been a frequent contributor to "The Human Condition" column for "The Advocate" publishing over 50 stories. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha; his three children, Mike (Karen), Meggin (Marshall), and Maureen (Kerry); and seven grandchildren, Ruthie Wrubleski (Zack), Nathan Davenport, Neil Bertinot, Erin Davenport, Michaela Wright, McCulle Wright, and Martin Wright. A receiving of friends will be held Saturday, October 10th at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at University United Methodist Church. A reception will be held after the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University United Methodist Church, 3350 Dalrymple Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
