A native of Raceland and a resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007, in Baton Rouge. He was 82, a retired glazier with more than 32 years of service to Louisiana Glass. Visitation was Saturday, March 24, at St. Joseph Cathedral from 10 a.m.until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Young. Interment will follow inResthavenGardensof Memory. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley F. Babin; daughters, Betty Babin Baechle and her husband, Brigg, and Ann Moore and her husband, William "Chico," all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Verna Babin Rodman of Burlington, N.J.; a brother, Adam Babin of Thibodaux; four grandchildren, Brandy Baechle Whisnant and her husband, Thomas, Chelsea Moore Fourrier and her husband, Brad, Brigid Baechle Nobles and her husband, Lance, and Ben Moore and his wife, Kristen; three great-grandchildren, Mary Parker Whisnant, Owen Bradley Fourrier and Jack William Fourrier; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Brigg Baechle, Chico Moore, Thomas Whisnant, Lance Nobles, Brad Fourrier and Ben Moore. He was a member of the Louisiana Association of the Deaf, the Deaf Bass Association and was actively involved with theCatholicDeafCenterfor many years.
