Lowry A. Griffon passed away at home on February 8, 2023 at the age of 93. She was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge who loved people and spent her life helping them either through her work or community service. Employed by the State of Louisiana for forty-nine years, she retired in 2002 as the Director of Field Operations for the Louisiana Department of Labor. She was the recipient of the Charles E. Dunbar Award for meritorious service in state government in 1984, was featured in Women in Government, and was a Leave a Legacy honoree of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Baton Rouge Chapter, and the Leave a Legacy Council in 2014. Throughout her life, she was an active member, volunteer, and fundraiser in numerous community organizations including Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Region, Broadmoor Baptist Church Adult Choir, Baton Rouge Symphony League, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Baton Rouge High School Foundation, Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Attic Trash and Treasure Sale of Baton Rouge, Legacy Dinner Group, Opera Louisiana, and Passe Bon Temps Luncheon Group. Lowry was married to Sidney J. Lacy, Jr. until his death in 1998 and to George G. Griffon, Jr. until his death in 2009. She is survived by a cousin, D.F. Sims; aunt, Jane Weaver; stepchildren Sidney J. Lacy, III, Renee Griffon Morris (Dedric), Anyce Griffon Mascari (Blake), George Griffon III, Lance Griffon (Jamie), and Duane Griffon (Ashley); step-grandchildren Kathleen Amelie Lacy, John Caldwell Lacy, Malaika Leigh Lacy, Shea Joshua Lacy, Beau Griffon, Georgia Griffon, Coleman Naegele, Megan Naegele, Jordan Morris, and Jackson Morris; and step-great grandchildren Manning Cole Lacy, McKenna Lacy, and Noah Lacy. She was proceeded in death by her parents Lucius J. Andrews and Thelma Sims Andrews; first husband Sidney J. Lacy, Jr.; second husband George G. Griffon, Jr.; stepson Timothy M. Lacy; and stepdaughter Charmaine M. Lacy. Services will be held at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 9755 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, La. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Visitation is from 8:30 A.M. until religious services beginning at 11:00 A.M. Internment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Crestview Chapel, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, La. Pallbearers are Josh Lacy, Caldwell Lacy, Bobby Duncan, George Griffon III, Duane Griffon, and Dedric Morris. Honorary pallbearers are D.F. Sims, Louis R. Minsky, M.D., R. Bryan Griffith, M.D., Stephen Jolissaint, M.D., Eric Lane, and Lance Griffon. Special appreciation for their devoted care of her is extended to Dr. Louis Minsky and staff; caretakers Kathleen Cage, Drucilla Dalton, Darlene Hayes, Gloria Heard, Jynell Hurst, Juliette Jackson, Loretta Johnson, Jane Prejean (deceased), Janice Ramirez, and Kim Richard; her niece, Anne Wong, and friend, Susan Williams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Region, the Broadmoor Baptist Church Music Department, or the charity of your choice.
