Linda V. Smith, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on July 25, 2023. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri, but lived her childhood in Portland, Oregon. Her family returned to Hannibal when she was in high school where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Smith. In 1963, Bill was transferred to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they raised their three children. They were blessed with 66 years of happy marriage.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bill Smith of Baton Rouge; daughters, Leslie and Rick Steele of Baton Rouge, Lisa and Scott Harris of Lafayette; son, Todd and Terre Smith of Baton Rouge; grandsons, Ryan Harris, Taylor and Taylor Smith, Zach and Pratiksha Harris, Hayden and Chelsea Smith, Jordan and Christina Dudley, and Luke Harris; granddaughter, Haylie and Dixon Braud; great-grandson, Aiden Harris; great-granddaughter, Olivia Smith; as well as great grandchild, Baby Braud due January, 2024. Linda is preceded in death by her mother, Irmogene L Eames; father, Roy E. Voss; as well as sister, Jerrilyn V. Scott.
Linda worked at the family owned Western Auto and with her daughter, Leslie, at House of Travel, but spent the bulk of her years as a homemaker. She was always welcoming to all the many friends and relatives that visited their bustling house.
Everyone thinks their Mom is special, but ours really was. She and our father traveled all over the world and often took their kids and grandkids on these adventures, including to Italy, England, Alaska, St John and trips back to her beloved Oregon. The Christmas tree was always dwarfed by all the presents. She always made sure everyone had exactly what they wanted.
We are humbled to call her Mom and Grammy, although there are not enough words to describe how sorely she will be missed by her husband, friends, and family. We rejoice in knowing she has received her reward and is with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Well done, good and faithful servant.

A burial is to follow at Greenoaks Cemetery, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Pallbearers will be Ryan Harris, Zach Harris, Taylor Smith, Hayden Smith, Jordan Dudley, and Dixon Braud.
