Funeral services for Linda Marie Darensbourg will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1120 Myrtle Walk, Baton Rouge, La. 70802. Viewing will be from 9 -10:30am, with the rosary occurring at 10:30am.
Linda was born on May 12, 1949, to the late Elliott Jules and Mable Ann (Verrett) Darensbourg in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the oldest of six children.
She graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1967 and briefly attended University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as University of Louisiana Lafayette) before returning home to work at Service Meat Market. She eventually was hired at the 19th Judicial District Clerk of Court Office where she worked for over 33 years. After retirement, she became a caregiver for the elderly.
She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, and shopping and caring for her younger cousins, nieces and nephews. Linda will be forever remembered for her generosity, heart of gold, unwavering honesty and sassy spirit.
Survivors include her three siblings, Katherine (Elliot) O’Brien and Joseph Darensbourg of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Randall (Jessica) Darensbourg of Smyrna, Georgia; sister-in-law, Linda D. Darensbourg of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; five godchildren, Candace O’Brien, Elliott Jules Darensbourg III of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lauren Darensbourg of Washington, D.C., Donald Potter, Jr. of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Elliott Jules Darensbourg IV of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews - Caryn O’Brien, Demond (Sherelle) Darensbourg, Demarkus Darensbourg, and Christopher (Tanisha) Darensbourg all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Christina O’Brien of Houston, Texas, Jordan Darensbourg of Cedar Park, Texas, and Sara Darensbourg of Irving, Texas; life long best friend, Judy Francisco; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elliott Jules and Mable Ann (Verret) Darensbourg; two siblings, Frances Cabrini Darensbourg and Elliott Jules Darensbourg, Jr.; her paternal grandparents, George and Olivia St. Amant Darensbourg; her maternal grandparents, Edwin O. and Noellie Courseault Verret; her godparents, Ethel Decuir and Earl Baltazar; and two of her life long friends, Pam Carter and Marlene Little.
