Lillie D StewartLillie Dickerson Stewart, of Baton Rouge, LA., while holding the loving hand of her daughter, Maureen Williams, peacefully went to be with the Lord and family on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Lillie was a Southern University graduate with a Master's of Science Degree in Administration and Supervision. She influenced many young minds over 30 years as a teacher and administrator in East Baton Rouge Parish and Ascension Parish School Board Systems. She retired at East Ascension High School as an English teacher. Lillie was a proud 25 year member of the Sigma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., located in Shreveport, LA. She was also very dedicated to her Catholic Faith by serving as an Adoration Server at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. As a former basketball high school player, she remained physically active with Water Aerobics at the Southside YMCA. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her family meant the world to her. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Maureen Stewart Williams, of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Barry Stewart and wife Eleanor of Baton Rouge, LA; two grandsons, Damien Stewart and wife Victoria of Erwinville, LA, Cory Stewart of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter, Meredith Williams of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Eursla Dickerson Hardy of Shreveport, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Stewart; parents, Henry McNeil Dickerson, Sr., and Albertha Lucas Dickerson; brother, Henry McNeil Dickerson, Jr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (9150 Highland Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70810) from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM., Rosary at 10:30 AM, Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony at 11:00 AM, and Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. Internment will follow the service at Greenoaks Memorial Park. A special thank you to Dr. Bryan Bienvenu for always giving our mother hope and encouragement. We also thank the nursing staff, volunteers, and patient transporters for their wonderful care at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and the Medical Staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
