Lester Williams was born on November 16, 1945, to Sylvester and Demelda Williams. On January 21, 2024, at the age 78 he passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
He was a 1963 graduate of McKinley School, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lester moved from Louisiana and moved to New York in 1966. While in New York, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Mechanic in the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971. After time served in the Vietnam War, Lester returned to New York until he moved to New Orleans in 1997 to be cared for by his younger sister, Sealesta ‘Cee-Cee” Carnes who died in his loving arms in their home, on January 25, 2020.
Lester’s preceded in death by his parents, his younger sister, as well as his son Steven Williams. He’s survived by his eldest sister, Joyce Williams Robinson, as well as his daughter, Kasan Williams.
Lester leaves to cherish numerous memories to his lifelong Vietnam Battle-Buddy Paul and his wife Paulette Finley and his niece and caregiver, Lingeria “Loni” Porche, who cared for him until his death. Lester also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Special thanks to all healthcare professionals that took time to look past, Uncle Lester saying, ‘I’m Fine, I’m Ok” and investigated his medical illness.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Janie Tringh {VA Hospital}. I would not dare forget our newly acquired extended Clarity Hospice family, Jamie {Nurse}, Carla {Social Worker}, and Ms. Wendy {Home Health Assistant} who provided compassionate care to Uncle Lester until the day of his transition. Your unwavering commitment, integrity, humane care providing humanity, much dignity needed during this trying time will forever be engraved in my heart.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, there will be a short visitation from 10 am until time of graveside service.
