Leonard J. “Del” Bordelon was born on February 7, 1939, and died peacefully on December 29, 2021. Leonard is the husband of Bettye Ballina Bordelon and the son of the late Lee and Daisy Bordelon. He is the father of Lenette Bordelon Ponseti of New Orleans, LA; Lisette Lee Prieto (Andrés) and Charles Ray “Chip” Lee, Jr. (Erin), both of Baton Rouge, LA. He is the grandfather of Patrick Matthew Ponseti of San Francisco, CA, and Caroline Elizabeth Ponseti of Washington, D.C.; Andrés Roberto “Drew” Prieto, Elizabeth Ryan Prieto, James Ruy Prieto, Charles Felix “Charlie” Lee, Eloise Opal Lee, and George Thomas Lee, all of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by his brother Raphael Bordelon of Hammond, LA, and his sister Lynette Nolan of Prairieville, LA. He is preceded in death by his sister Doris Brenckle and brothers Harold Bordelon and Lloyd Bordelon.
Leonard received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.B.A. from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He spent his entire career in the valve industry where he started multiple, successful companies. His proudest accomplishment is founding DelVal Flow Controls in Geismar, LA, which continues to fulfill his legacy. His other passions included hunting, fishing, and cooking for family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA, followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m.
