Leona Pinsonat Leonard

"A longtime resident of New Roads, Leona died on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born on December 15, 1928 in Mix, LA, was a faithful Servant of God, and dedicated to her family. Leona retired as a nursing aide from Pointe Coupee General Hospital and was a longtime member of St. Mary of False River Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping, family, and taking care of others. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Wilda and Michael Armato, Sr., Merle and Mitch Pinsonat, Emily and Charles "Pete" Jarreau, and Jennifer and Daniel O'Callaghan; grandchildren, Addie and Michael Armato, Jr., Matt Pinsonat and wife Katie, Mitchell Pinsonat and fiancéé Rachel, Devin Jarreau, Clayton and Travis O'Callaghan; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved so much. Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul "J.P." Leonard; an infant daughter, Brenda; grandchildren, Justin, and infant Jacob Jarreau; parents, Edvar and Addie Pinsonat; and brothers, Edvar "J Boy", Jr., Leslie, and Charles Pinsonat. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael, Matt, Mitchell, Devin, Clayton and Travis. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Landry, Wesley Freneaux and Joe Langlois. Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 03, 2018 at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church from 11:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Robert Berggreen. Entombment will follow in False River Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family would like to thank the staffs of Lakeview Manor and Pointe Coupee Hospice.
