Kevin was born on June 4, 1986 in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He grew up and was raised in Franklin, Louisiana and graduated from Hanson Memorial High School in 2004. He attended LSU and, after graduating, he remained a resident of Baton Rouge where he lived until his death.
Kevin touched so many people throughout his life. He was extremely talented and always very involved in school and community activities and made lasting, impactful relationships with people along the way. One of his greatest passions from a young age was volunteering for Louisiana Youth Seminar every summer where he met some of his closest, lifelong friends. Kevin was also a dedicated worker, an asset to his team, and took pride in building relationships with his work family.
What made Kevin special, wasn’t his involvement in activities, but the impact he made upon everyone he met along the way. He always made a great first impression… warm and friendly with a smile and laugh that could light up a room. He was charismatic, witty, and had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and accepted. He laughed hard and loved hard and was always fun to be around. He not only made lasting relationships, but left lasting impressions upon everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Even after a devastating cancer diagnosis, he faced the challenges head on with grace, strength and optimism. He rarely complained, refused to accept pity, and continued to be there for others. He chose to live his life with joy and was a true inspiration.
Kevin had a myriad of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed tailgating and LSU football, golf, fishing, music, playing guitar, cooking, traveling, and even woodworking. But his favorite past time was duck hunting, especially with his faithful and beloved Labrador, Trooper. He spent countless weekends at his family duck camp down the Boston Canal. It was a special and happy place for him that was a constant throughout his life and brought him great joy, camaraderie, and lots of memories. Hunting was a huge part of who he was. He looked forward to duck season every year and always carved out time to get his camp weekends in.
But above all, his greatest joy was being a husband and father. Kevin was a loving, and supportive husband, and adored his wife Meredith who was by his side through it all. Their daughter, Mollie Jude was his pride and joy. He was a very hands-on father, and took great pleasure in even the simplest tasks of parenting. He cherished and appreciated every moment he spent with his precious family.
He was also an amazing son, brother, grandson, uncle, son-in law, brother-in law, nephew and cousin who made his family incredibly proud.
He leaves behind his wife, Meredith Johnson Minor and his 13 month old daughter, Mollie Jude Minor of Baton Rouge, LA to cherish his memory. He is also survived by his Mother, Karen Bourg Minor of Youngsville, LA. Father, Jeff Minor and husband Kim Hebert of Lafayette, LA. Sister, Kristine Minor Winters and husband Mal and their children Van and Sylvie of Greenville, AL. His mother and father in law, Mark and Judy Johnson of St. Gabriel, LA and sister in law Megan Alyse Johnson of Baton Rouge, LA. Maternal grandparents Gay Marquette Bourg and Jerry Bourg of Baldwin, Louisiana. Paternal grandmother Ivella Barr Minor of Baldwin, Louisiana. Meredith's grandparents, Bessie and Anthony Pizzolato of St. Gabriel, LA and Kenneth Johnson of Central, LA. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. And close friends who were like family.
