A native of River Ridge and a resident of Baton Rouge, Kerry died Tuesday May 17, 2011, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. She was 42. Kerry was employed by the East Baton Rouge Parish school system as an educational diagnostician. She was a member and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Kerry loved her family, prayer, gardening, music, reading and art. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Sigma Chapter; the National Teachers Honorary Society, of which she was a past president; LSU writing project; and Catholic Financial Life Branch 311. She is survived by her husband of more than 13 years, Robert Joseph Degeyter; a son, Michael Anthony Degeyter; a daughter, Sarah Michelle Degeyter; mother, Delia "DeAnne" Blanchard Arnold and fiancé Lenny D'Arensbourg Sr.; father, Chuck Arnold and Beverly Oxford; two sisters, Alexandra and Arielle Arnold; paternal grandmother, Verdie Arnold; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Allen Degeyter and Barbara Ann Hutchinson; two brothers-in-law, John Aaron Degeyter and Edward James Degeyter and wife Shereé; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Knox and husband Leon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Anne "G.G." Arnold; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Blanchard Jr.; and paternal grandparents, Lucille High Arnold and Dudley Arnold. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., on Saturday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Victor Messina and the Rev. Gerard F. Young. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Financial Life Foundation Scholarship Fund, in memory of Kerry Arnold Degeyter, at 1100 W.
