On Thursday evening May 6, 2021, the sun set on the life of Kenneth Wayne Brown of Baker, Louisiana. Born to Mary Lee and A L Brown in Downsville, Louisiana on October 9, 1952, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from Downsville High School in 1970. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1974, he pursued various jobs in the south Louisiana oil fields where he learned several industrial trades including but not limited to painting, hydroblasting, and sand blasting. In later years, he became interested in law enforcement and became a prison guard. at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, Louisiana. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Brown obtained a position with several FEMA security contractors. His final assignment before he retired was to participate in providing security for various federal government buildings in New Orleans including the Customs House and the immigration court.
Kenneth Brown, like too many Louisiana citizens fell victim to lung cancer on May 6, 2021. His wife of twenty-eight years, Sharon Brown, Baker, Louisiana, his younger brother, A L Brown, Jr, Corpus Christi, Texas, two sisters, Jacquelyn Brown (James Jr.), Downsville, Louisiana and Sharonda Brown of Monroe, Louisiana, and his older brother, the Reverend William Hartwell, Omaha, Nebraska as well as numerous nieces and nephews, survives Mr. Brown. May he rest in God's peace.
