"Kathleen McCarty Poss passed away in Baton Rouge on May 21, 2017 where she had been living since 2015 to be near her family. A longtime resident of Shreveport, Kathy graduated from Byrd High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. Kathy was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She recently celebrated her 79th birthday with her children, grandchildren and niece. Kathy is survived by her son, Stephen Poss (Carrie) of Baton Rouge and her daughter, Leslie Wong (Robert) of Beaumont. Also mourning her death are her sister, Pat Wagar (Pete) of Jekyll Island GA; her sister-in-law, Mary Leah Duran (Don) of Lufkin and grandchildren Jackson "Jack" Poss, Charles "Charlie" Poss, Jonathan Poss and Catherine Poss, all of Baton Rouge. Kathy was especially involved with her nieces, Jody Bowhay (Brad) of Huntsville, AL; Cathy Morris of Sedona, AZ.; Elizabeth Reiss (David) of New Orleans; Cecile Guin of Baton Rouge, Billie Brick (Tim) of Richmond TX; Mary Lewis Salvador (Joseph) and Texye Charleville of Houston TX. She is also survived by her nephew, David Morris of Phenix City, Al. Kathy was preceded in death by her fiancé, Bruce Parker; her son, James Sanford Poss; her niece, Deborah Lynn Morris; former husband Jack Poss (Dee) and her parents, Jenne and Horace McCarty. Kathy enjoyed many years working with Fairfield Property Management and has maintained close friendships affiliated with the company. Graveside services will be held in Shreveport on June 3rd at Forest Park Cemetery (St. Vincent's Avenue) at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Home Instead, Audubon Hospice, Beth Lejeaune, Bridgette Johnson, Victoria Danagogo and Ashley Smith and the many other wonderful people who helped Kathy in her final days. The family also appreciates the kind services of Dr. Mark Hodges and Dr. Joseph A. Larriviere in treating Kathy.
