Known for her kindness, generosity, and devotion to her Catholic faith, Kate Marionneaux Anderson died peacefully at home on September 16, 2021 surrounded by her family. Kate overcame multiple adversities in life by relying on her deep and unwavering faith in God. Even as she faced multiple cancer diagnoses over the past thirteen years, she freely gave of herself to others and blessed so many who were facing their own cancer diagnosis with the gift of peace and calm. Kate always lifted others up in prayer and showed us how to be at peace with the Lord and trust in His plan. Her life was dedicated to her family. She shined as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend to many. Kate had a true servant’s heart living her life with dignity, grace, humility, and kindness. She selflessly shared her time volunteering, ministering, and counseling others in need. Kate loved cooking and baking with her daughter, Cecilia. She was wickedly smart with a strong sense of right and wrong. She had a great sense of fashion and a love of Dolly Parton. She was also an avid reader, especially literature regarding the Catholic faith and spirituality. Kate was a native of Baton Rouge where she attended Tara High School and later, Centenary College. She graduated from LSU Law School in 2003, working at Phelps Dunbar LLP before retiring to pursue her life’s true passion, motherhood. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Kate is survived by her husband, Dr. Kevin J. Anderson; daughter, Cecilia Elizabeth Anderson; parents, Jack Marionneaux and Nancy Foust Marionneaux; sisters, Aimee Rotenberg (Steve), Caroline Davis, SaraRose Marionneaux, her beloved nieces and nephews; and her two precious dogs, Dolly and Biscuit.
