Karen Lee Gigoux Cochran died January 31, 2021 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after a battle with COVID 19.
She was 73 years old and was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma on July 31, 1947 to Charlie and Nadine Gigoux. Karen was a retired registered nurse with a degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Family and friends will miss her wonderful sense of humor, her passion for sports, her love for animals and her loving heart. She had a zest for life and was an inspiration and joy to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Karen is survived by her husband Rex Cochran and her sister Sandra Gigoux Gentry (Ralph), niece Tracy Simmons (Brian), nephew Dr. Tyler Stout (Kari), step sisters Holly Stout Schroerlucke, Linda Stout Ketelaar, Sandy Stout Young and stepchildren Kellye Cochran Albritton (Ron Wright), Julie Cochran Sanchez, Rex W. Cochran Jr., and grand children Meagan Albritton Baily (Nathan), Dallas Albritton, Dawson Albritton, Hannah Sanchez Wilson (Matt), Hayden Sanchez, Erik Cochran and Richard Cochran and great grandchildren Avery and Atlas Bailey.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Laurel New Story, her brother Michael Stout, her niece Lori Gentry, her parents Charlie Gigoux and Nadine Gigoux Stout and her step father James B Stout.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Methodist Church, 9375 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70810 on Saturday February 6, 2021. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until 2:00pm followed by a church service. Karen was a firm believer in proper social distancing, masking and proper protocols required for the response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Please wear a mask and social distance the best you can.
