"June Cowart Hicks, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, was born on October 15, 1930 and passed away on June 17, 2018, at the age of 87. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. June was a graduate of Istrouma High School (class of 1947), and went on to graduate from the Baton Rouge General School of Nursing in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. She worked for Dr. Leon Bombet, the Louisiana School for the Deaf, and retired in 1993 from the State of Louisiana Department of Public Health in the Livingston Parish Health Unit. She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Thursday, June 21, 2018, from 9am until service at 11am. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her son, Russ Hicks and wife Andrea Denise of Clinton; her daughter, Donna H. Berry and husband Jim of Baton Rouge; her son, Daryl Hicks and wife Natalie of Denham Springs; and her sister, Gloria ""Jackie"" Varnado of Denham Springs. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Brittany Watkins and husband Shane, Ruston Woolley and husband Bobby, Heather Mouton and husband David, Justin Hicks, Jared Hicks, Paige Garrido and husband Jonathon, Phillip Hicks and wife Holley, Christiana Thompson and husband Brian, and Stacey Johnston and husband Todd; as well as 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. June is preceded in death by her parents, William Louis Cowart and Irma Lucas Cowart; her brother, Raymond Louis Cowart; her husband, Russell W. Hicks, Jr.; a grandson, Russell W. Hicks IV; and a granddaughter, Anna Martin. Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Hicks, Jared Hicks, Phillip Hicks, David Mouton, Bobby Woolley, Shane Watkins, and Jonathon Garrido. The family wishes to thank Dr. Amy Giarruso, Dr. Brad Rodrigue, and the staff at The Carpenter House.
