“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Tim. 4:7. Julian R. Smith passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the age of 92. A native of Bogue Chitto, MS and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, he was a retired Kaiser Aluminum employee for 38 years. He was a WWII veteran, who was awarded two Bronze Stars and an Expert Infantrymen Badge. He was in the 3rd Army under General Patton in the 38th Infantry Division in Germany. Julian is survived by his son, Rudy Smith and wife, Ginger; six grandchildren, Aaron Knight, Jeff Knight and wife, Britney, Rudy Smith, Jr. and wife, Francine, Jessica Blouin and husband Roger, Christopher Leon Smith, and Michael Taylor Smith; eight great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Burns of Bogue Chitto, MS, Alyeen Calender of Hixson, TN; and former son-in-law, Harry Knight. He is preceded in death by his wife, Velva Smith; parents, Leon and Bertha Smith; daughter, Laura Knight; son, R.L. Smith. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Julian’s name. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 8 a.m. until Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
