Joyce Brocato Davis, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, at the age of 95 after a very short illness. She was born February 26, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Hammond, Louisiana. She received a Bachelor of Education at Southeastern University and later earned her Master’s Degree at LSU. She taught English for 40 years in the East Baton Rouge School System and St. Joseph’s Academy. She was a resident of Baton Rouge for 75 years. Joyce is survived by two children, Kathy Johanna Davis Causey and Stanley Finch Davis III (Shan); four grandchildren, Christopher “Beau” Davis, and Sydney Lynne Davis and one great-grandchild, Michael Gerard Causey. She was preceded in death by her parents Mildred Bauman Brocato and Vincent Brocato; brother Richard Brocato, sister Dorothy May “Pete” Brocato Miley, and daughter Lynn Lucille Davis Allred. She had many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She enjoyed playing bridge and having lunch with her friends, was a member of the Sherwood Forest Garden Club, a weekly devotee to the STM Adoration Chapel, and hosted Bible Club in her home for years. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 12:00pm- 1:00pm. Mass will begin at 1:00pm officiated by Father Eddie Martin. Burial will be at Greenoaks Cemetery 9595 Florida Blvd., after Mass.
