Joy H. Miller (Cox) passed away on January 20, 2022, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Monday, January 24, 2022, at Istrouma Baptist Church Chapel. Visitation will resume at Rabenhorst East at 10 am on Tuesday, January 25th with service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Baker at Hillcrest Cemetery. Joy was born in Liberty, Mississippi, on September 5, 1934. She married Willie T. Miller Jr. on July 1, 1951 in Woodville, MS. She graduated from Istrouma High School, and then went on to work for the city of Baton Rouge. She was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church and served on the Baton Rouge Council on Aging. Joy and Willie were very involved in many civic activities in Baker, Louisiana, where they lived until the early 1970s. They shared a lot of love and adventures, including many LSU football and baseball games, until his passing in 2003. Later in life, she married fellow church member William Cox. In her final years, she found JOY living at Whealdon Estates with her sweet puppy Ginger. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter W. Sr. and Willie Hurst, brothers, Maxwell Hurst, Walter W. Hurst, Jr., husband Willie T. Miller, Jr, her later in life companion, William Cox, and daughter Deborah M. Vincent. Joy is survived by her daughter Terri Piper, husband Dennis Piper, children Joshua Piper and wife Sarah, and daughter Savanna Piper and boyfriend Blaine Brocato. Son-in-law Roger G. Vincent Jr (Deborah M Vincent), children Chris S. Vincent, Tres Vincent and wife Kellie and Kelli Vincent, and finance Michael Taddesse. Sister-in-law Helen Hurst and cousin Betty Joan Rushworth McRae and many nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren Drake Vincent, Malorie Vincent, Hunter Vincent, Tyler Vincent, Keller Vincent, and Thibodeaux Piper.
