Joy B. Hicks

Joy Boyd Hicks passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Born on December 4, 1923, Joy was 92 years young. She was a native of Leesville, LA and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Joy was an avid gardener for many years and she loved to play bridge. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Nicholson Post 38, and the First Baptist Church. Joy was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Tom S. Hicks, her parents, William J., Sr. and Emma Mathis Boyd, and her sister, Billie Boyd Kennedy. She is survived by her brother, W. J. Boyd, Jr. (Janice), two nephews, Elmo Boyd Burton (Cheryl) and William Dean Boyd (Julie) and three nieces, Cynthia Kennedy McGehee (Mike), Brenda Kennedy Kennedy (John) and Raegan Boyd Hanson along with many great nieces, nephews and very dear friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Greenoaks Funeral Home (9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA.) from 1 P.M. until the funeral service celebrated by Larkin J. Harris of the First Baptist Church at 2:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
