My heart breaks for the loss of a friend and sister. Johnny Rhea took me in with open arms and heart early on in my life. I have so many wonderful memories of time spent with her. That will last my life time. I was so Blessed to have her love and friendship of a sister. She fixed my hair and makeup for my 1st high school dance. She was the Godmother to my son Justin Brooks. Johnny Rhea always made me feel so special. She never used the word step when  introducing or talking about Justin and I. That was the cherry on top in my life. She called me her Ladybug. That always meant so much to me. 
Johnny Rhea was the maid of honor at my wedding to Reid Trekell 21 years ago on May 5th.
So we were just talking about her very recently. 
She would come to hang out at the pool most summers when we were In B.R. Hanging out, singing on the  back porch in Saint Francisville and lots of laughter too. Taking trips with both boys to the beach. Summer trips for Justin to his Aunt Johnny Rhea was a big deal for him.  She endured such pain for decades. It comforts me knowing she’s no longer in pain and at peace. Johnny Rhea had this amazing way of making you feel so special. She will be missed but Never forgotten. Our love and prayers for all of the family

Johnny Rhea can finally be at peace.  I remember lots of great times with her at special occasions like graduations, showers, weddings, and reunions but also great times just visiting and laughing with family.  I vividly remember one visit to Aunt Trace's when she was a teenager, and I was around 6.  I couldn't wait until she got up to play with me, but, being a teenager, she was sleeping much later than I did.  I waited not so patiently and asked a million times when she was getting up until she finally awoke.  I cherish the memory of going to visit her at home right after Sarah was born because Sarah was the first real baby I ever held...and Johnny Rhea let me!!!  I remember us laughing in her home in St. Francisville at the picture she had hung of my brother at the farm pulling a pig's tale.  I also have great memories of  the awesome time we had going to New Orleans with our cousin Andy many years ago.  We all sang "We are Family" at the Cat's Meow and laughed and laughed!!!  I could go on and on because Johnny Rhea always made me feel special and so very loved.  She will forever be in our hearts.    

I am saddened to hear of Johnny Rhea's passing. My grandmother used to babysit Johnny Rhea and Melanie when they were young girls. I also went to high school with both sisters. My prayers are with Theresa and Melanie and her family during these days of mourning. RIP Johnny Rhea.


I have fond memories of Johnny Rhea as a young woman with her sister Melanie. She had a beautiful smile, kind spirit and natural beauty. She was devoted to my grandmother and mother. True testament of her loving spirit. That is how I will always remember her.

My dear sister is no longer in the debilitating pain that has controlled her life for many years.  I'm grateful for the memories that we shared.  More grateful that Johnny Rhea is out of the miserable pain she lived with daily and in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ who loves her more that we can imagine.  She will forever be in my heart.
