

John Ivan "Johnny" Johnson passed away at the age of 86, on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was a resident of Central and a native of the Cutoff/Brusly, Louisiana. A veteran of the Army National Guard, those who knew him would describe him as the ultimate family man. His family was his pride and joy. A retired diesel mechanic/heavy equipment operator, he was an avid hunter, in the woods during hunting season, hunting that big buck. He also had a great love of football. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Dolores Rodriguez Johnson. He is also survived by his daughters, Laurie Johnson, Theresa Roussel (Blair), Karen Marchand (Shane), and Sharon Johnson; grandchildren, Eric Roussel, Addison Marchand and Ashley Johnson; sisters, Barbara "Bobbie" Gallegos, Marie Hebert (Wiley), and Mary Sarradet (Earl); sisters-in-law, Ann Johnson, and Elaine Pearce (Bobby); brother-in-law, Raymond Rodriguez (Mella), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Johnson, Sr. and Corinne Knapps Johnson, and siblings, Corinne Lemoine, Ethel Labouliere, Geraldine Simms, Shirley Martin, Thomas Johnson, Jr., and James Johnson. Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until Catholic Mass at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Michael Moroney. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Blair Roussel, Shane Marchand, Eric Roussel, Joseph Rodriguez, Buddy Elliott, and Sonny LeJeune. A special thanks to Drs. Ross Cockrell, Chris McCanless, Kevin Babin, and Pinnacle Hospice for their excellent care.
