He was a retired longtime employee of Ethyl Corp. and a retired lieutenant colonel who served in the U.S. Army with the 4009th Reserve during World War II. He was 95, a native of Patterson and a resident of Baton Rouge. He died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Our House For Respite in Plaquemine. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. until religious services at noon in the funeral home chapel. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Pruitt. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Chadwick is survived by his wife, Doris M. Chadwick; two daughters, Peggy C. Scates and husband Tom Scates, and Katherine Susan Frederick and husband Charles P. Frederick; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Johnnie Elizabeth Ballard; parents, Joseph Wood Chadwick; mother, Elizabeth Wilson Chadwick; two brothers and two sisters. The family would like to give their sincere thanks to Verly Polk and Hamah Young and their staff for their loving care and to Gulf South Hospice and their staff.
