A loving husband, dad, and pawpaw. He was born on March 14, 1960, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Ruby and Charles Cambre. David passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in the home that he built in Sunshine, LA, after a battle with cancer, while surrounded by his loving family. David was a retired Georgia Pacific employee with 25 years of service. David was also a skilled craftsman in many areas from mechanical to woodworking. Accomplishing many things in life, David built houses for his family and conquered any challenges that arose. David is survived by his wife, Elaine Dunn; two daughters, Theresa Cambre and Darcy Crumholt; son, John David Cambre, Jr.; three grandchildren, Cole Brown, Cassi Brown and Sydneigh Cambre; two sisters, Chris Fleener and Elaine Branch; two brothers, Ronnie Cambre and Greg Cambre; numerous extended family and friends; and his best bud Zeke. Preceded in death by his parents; aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be Greg Cambre, Sr., Greg Cambre, Jr., Jared Cambre, Terry Marcotte, Scotty Morgan, Chris Parker and Scott Gallagher. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Cambre and Mike Cambre. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Thursday, June 25, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, June 26, 2015, 9:00 a.m. until religious services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Fr. Charles Landry. Interment will follow in Prairieville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
