A loving husband, father and grandfather, John A. Bani died Friday evening, Oct. 20, 2006, at his home. He was 85 and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. He was a 1938 graduate ofCatholicHigh Schooland a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He practiced architecture for more than 56 years and founded the firm of Bani, Carville and Brown Architects Inc. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Monday, Oct. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. Joseph Cathedral on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until funeral Mass at 10 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Gerard F. Young and the Rev. John M. Carville Jr. Interment is in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by Joy Neff Bani, his loving wife of 58 years; two children, Lynn Anne Bani Carville and husband Henry, and Deacon J. Cary Bani, all of Baton Rouge; and three grandsons, Brian Carville of Dallas, and Bradley Carville and Brett Carville, both of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Leah Bani; and a granddaughter, Leah Anne Carville. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and past president of the Baton Rougechapter. He was inducted into the Catholic High School Hall of Fame, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Knights of St. Gregory and a parishioner of St. Joseph Cathedral. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, and son-in-law, Brad Lanehart, Matthew Daigrepont, Cliff Lasseigne and Wilbur King. Honorary pallbearers are Brothers of the Sacred Heart and his many loving caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made toCatholicHigh School, St. Joseph Cathedral or Alzheimer's Services of Baton Rouge.
