“And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:7 Joann Yvonne Lee Eskins, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put family and friends foremost in her life, passed away Saturday morning, July 17, 2021, at Carpenter House. Joann was born on September 7, 1932 to Abner Frank Lee and Lessie Jarrell Lee in Acme on Cabin Creek, West Virginia. She married Eugene Eskins and together they lived an adventurous life, raising their family all over the world, including Ghana, Trearddur Bay, North Wales, and England before settling in Baton Rouge, LA in 1973. Joann was an avid golfer who belonged to multiple golf clubs and enjoyed serving on their committees in which she held multiple offices. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed competitive game nights with her close-knit family. Joann is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Eskins, and her parents, Abner Frank Lee and Lessie Jarrell Lee. She is survived by her daughters Shawnee E. Schupbach and Cynthia E. Marceaux (Charles); her sons Joseph E. Eskins and Matthew L. Eskins; her grandchildren Daniel Schupbach, Adam Schupbach (Alycia), Anne Hall (Tony), Sarah Ashley (Ryan), Katherine Bourque (Clay), Rebecca Lovell (Brad), Emily Tong (Yangbin), James Eskins, and Jamie Eskins, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (11000 Florida Blvd.) at 9am with the funeral service beginning at 11am, officiated by Rev. Charles Marceaux. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
