She leaves behind sisters Sonnie Henderson, Connie Ponthieu, and Bobbie Wilks; brothers Sidney, Larry, and Walter Deloach. She is preceded in death by her son Kevin McIntyre, 2 sisters:Elaine Bione and Dixie Poche.
Joan retired from the State of Louisiana with 33 years of service.
She and loving husband Charles were married 60 years and hoped for 160 years. They had three children: Charles ”Chuck” McIntyre, Sheila (husband Timothy Mayeux), and Kevin McIntyre. They were blessed with three grand-children: Lance (who married Amanda and gave her two beautiful great-granddaughters: Belle and Julia Mayeux), Thomas (who married Alexis and gave her great-granddaughter Charlie), and Michael.
Joan loved to crochet and enjoyed making afghans for gifts. She made hundreds of Santa faces and Easter rabbits each year and gave them away. She loved to see the smiles when individuals received a gift for no reason.
Joan served in several ministries at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Greenwell Springs, La. She enjoyed crafting, decorating, and most of all gambling at the casinos. She said she went to gamble in order to “supplement her income”. That was part of her humor. She has gone through life as we all have with joy and sorrow, hope and despair.
May she rest in peace forever.
