Jesse Larry Miller, Sr. was born on October 13, 1939 in Laurel, Mississippi and passed away on January 28, 2024 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a man of many talents, he dedicated himself to his career with the Baton Rouge City Police Department in various roles within the force. His greatest love was his time as a motorcycle officer. After his retirement from the BRPD, he ventured into numerous entrepreneurial endeavors. He is survived by his loving wife, Renee; four sons, Larry (wife Linda), Todd, Brandon, and Adam; one daughter, Laura; and his sister, Shirley Price. Additionally, he is survived by two grandsons, Corey Lanning and Trystian Sobers, and two granddaughters, Ivy Souter and Rachel Miller. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deanna Lyn; his father and mother, Joseph E. Miller Sr. and Addie Miller; and siblings Joe Miller, Juanita Edwards, and Karla Clanton. "Big" Larry will be remembered for many things, not least his sense of humor and fun, as well as the size of his heart. He spent a significant part of his life in service to others, both professionally and personally. Larry was a great coach, fantastic storyteller, thoughtful Sunday school teacher, wonderful dancer, writer, and poet. There was no challenge too big, and he would tirelessly work to overcome anything. He modeled his love for the Lord, his love for family, and a determined work ethic. Larry will be greatly missed by those who knew him best. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Friday morning, 11:00 am until services begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
