Jerry Joe Dunaway, resident of Livingston, was born on November 9, 1943 and passed away on November 11, 2023 at the age of 80. He always said he wanted to be 80 and he made it. He played football, basketball and ran track at Glen Oaks High School, played football and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University and then went on to play professional football with the Boston Patriots (AFL). Jerry served in the United States Army attaining a ranking of First Lieutenant. Jerry retired as a supervisor from ExxonMobil Polyolefins. He was an ever-loving servant of the Lord. He gave his time freely to anyone who need help. He worked at Café Istrouma and served at the Senior Luncheons at Istrouma Baptist Church, volunteered time at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and did numerous Honey-Dos for all of his friends and family. He is survived by his children, William “Bill” Dunaway and wife Trisha, Krysta Watts and husband Chuck and Jennifer “Missy” Wiles and husband Dennis. Paw Paw Jerry is also survived by his grandchildren, Shelley Willliams & Tessa, Alexandra “Alex” Dunaway, Kayleigh Sell & Chris, Meredith Barron, Adrian “Cody” Moore-Watts, USMC Cpl. Austin Stacey & Kendra, Sophia Dunaway, Nicolette “Nikki” Dunaway and great-grandchildren, Caden Marshall, Mila Sell, Remi Williams, Rowan Williams, Ayla Stacey and Avery Stacey along with his very special sister-in-law, Kelle Dunaway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Nadine Dunaway, brothers James Marvin and Clyde Clayton “Clay”, sisters Kathryn and Frances and great-granddaughter, Harper Williams. Visitation will be at Istrouma Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 15 from 9-11am, with service at 11am, followed by graveside services at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert “Buddy” Wicker, Claude Catania, Chuck Watts, Adrian Moore-Watts, Keith Kanada and Steven Sasser. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry & Sharon Cutrer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
