In the early hours of Sunday, July 3rd, 2016, James "Jim" Burton Sharon lost his battle with cancer. James was 86, and died a day before his 87th birthday. James was born in Baton Rouge Louisiana and later became a well known resident in Sorrento, where everyone had a "Jim story". Throughout his years he resided in Kenner and various other cities around the world. James worked at many jobs at an early age, owned a few of his own businesses, and landed in the oil field arena. He worked for Amoco Oil Company for many years, when he retired. Through his career in the oil industry, as a drilling foreman, he was able to travel all over the world. James was a 60 year member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of New Orleans. He was kind hearted, loving, honest and trusting, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. James believed a handshake was your word and was always giving to others. He was well known for his wonderful sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his brothers Allen Joseph, John Otis Jr., Leland "L.C." Sr., his sister, Betty Ann Chustz, his mother Rita, father John Otis Sr., his sons Gregory Sharon and Michael Porter, and his loving wife of over 34 years, Mary Waguespack Sharon. He is survived by his daughter Carol LeBlanc, and husband Edmond of Sorrento, grandchildren Brent Sharon of CA, Brittany Clark of TX, Kristy Riles&Tammy Cox and their mother Jeana Porter, of Denham Springs, Caleb LeBlanc of Brusly, Amy Flash and Jase LeBlanc of Sorrento, and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. James Burton Sharon loved family most of all. The family would like to extend a big thanks to all the staff at Carpenter House for all they did to make "Mr. James" comfortable and dignified until the end, especially Crystal, Ms. Jill and most of all Ms. Pam. The services for James will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home at 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA., 70815. Viewing will begin at 9 o'clock until 12 o'clock, when a special eulogy will be delivered by his nephew&"second son", David "Keith" Sharon. Pallbearers will be Jase LeBlanc, Joshua Flash, David Keith Sharon, Jason Pino, Leland Sharon, Jr and Christopher James Sharon. Honorary pallbearers will be Edmond LeBlanc and Caleb LeBlanc. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, or The American Cancer Society.
