James Hulon “Bear” Walters, Sr. departed peacefully for his eternal nap on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the age of 82, to be with his loving wife, Sylvia. He was a native of Tylertown, MS and a long-time resident of Baker, LA. Hulon graduated from Istrouma High School in 1955 and went on to retire from Borden Dairy after 42 years of service. He was a member of Fairfield Masonic Lodge #425 and Order of the Eastern Star, Eunice Chapter, Zachary, LA. Hulon enjoyed deer hunting at the Indian Bayou Hunting Club, which he was a member of for over 30 years. But above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Ainsworth and husband, Dwayne; sons, James Walters and wife, Tammy, Timmy Walters and wife, Renee and Tommie Walters and wife, Laura; grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Ray, Rachel, Brooke, Jessica, Cydney, Harlee, Reagan, Kathryne, Adrianah and Maggie; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Jay W. Ashford and Alfred Delatte; sister-in-law, Dee Brabham; and numerous other family members. Hulon is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sylvia; parents, James and Evie Walters; and his sisters, Joyce Ashford and Mary Delatte.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 9:00AM until the time of funeral services at 10:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
