Ila Jean Landry, born in Tokyo, Japan, passed away at her home in Baton Rouge on May 11, 2024, at the age of 65. She moved to Baton Rouge from Lake Charles in 1983 and began work at United Way. She then work for the district attorney’s office for 15 years. Later in life, she switched gears and got her medical assistant certification from Virginia Tech. In her last years, she worked at Our Lady of the Lake Physicians Group. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Joseph Landry; her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Landry Martin and Blake Martin; her grandson, Landry Harrell; and step-grandson, Aiden Martin. She is also survived by her sister, Bobbie Labry; and brother, David Hesse. Ila is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Crochet; her father, Leon Henry Herman Hesse; and sister, Shirley Wilks. Visitation will be on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 11am until funeral service at 1pm, officiated by Rev. Ron Turner. Immediately following, she will be put to rest at Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum, 9595 Florida Blvd. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Martin, Ben Gautreaux, Roland Landry, Vaughn Ross, and Jessie Harrell.
