Ida Mae Bennett Sharpe, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 89. Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mae and her husband Ave were avid LSU fans and would follow the Tigers for decades across the country. Mae was a woman of great service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of those that she was surrounded by, especially in her later years at her residence at Southside Gardens in Baton Rouge. Mae is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Sharpe and wife, Patricia, David Sharpe, and Randy Sharpe and wife, Danielle; grandchildren, Jessica Pearson, Brian Sharpe, Joshua Sharpe, and Harrison Dodge; great-grandchildren, Julia Dornier, Luke Dornier, and Raven Sharpe; siblings, Cecil Bennett, Louise Anselmo, Winnie Smith, and Hardy Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ave Sharpe; great-grandson, Rick Dornier; siblings, Oliver Bennett, Margaret O’Donnell, and Joel Bennett. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, 2016, 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 9 a.m. until Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. The Sharpe family would like to thank the staff and residents of Southside Gardens, doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, and the staff at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice.
