H. Daniel “Dan” Carroll, 88, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021. Born August 21, 1932 to Howard V. and Mabel Tozier Carroll, he was a graduate of Baton Rouge High, class of 1951, receiving a BS in Accounting from LSU. He soon joined his father’s firm, Hawthorn, Waymouth and Carroll as a CPA, retiring in 1999 as a partner. He was an avid golfer, and a member of First Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher, RA Director and Deacon for many years. Dan was a past president of the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge (1992-1993), member for 42 years, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also on the Inter-Civic Council and International Hospitality Foundation. He met and married Marian Virginia Lewis, his wife of 49 years, in Norfolk, VA while he was in the US Navy. Dan served proudly on the USS Orion during the Korean Conflict. Dad never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his children, Cecilia Jones (Skip), Kaye Carroll, Pam Harlan, and J. Wayne Carroll (Erin); brother, James Carroll (Kathleen); grandchildren, Danielle (Jamey), Melissa Hebert (Scottie), Chip Jones (Leigh), Lee Jackson (Brad), Claire Strebeck (Wesley), Dawn Seal; and 15 great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. Dan is preceded in death by his wife; son, Andy Carroll; parents; and sister, Esther Worth. Visitation will be at Greenoaks, Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, April 28, from 10:00AM until the time of funeral services at 12:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church or Life Source Hospice.
