Herman J. Blanchard, 89, passed peacefully on January 25, 2018, with his daughter Pat by his side. Herman was a very proud retired carpenter who never missed a day of work. He grew up on False River, LA, where he met his wife of 60 years. They eventually moved to Baton Rouge where they raised their 3 daughters. Herman loved to play cards, he loved to eat food and loved talking about the good ol' days. We will forever remember his sayings such as "Rock da baby dodo" & "I don't like no slow ass game" (when playing cards). At our family gatherings, he never made his own plate of food. He would wait until all the grandkids were done with theirs and then finish whatever was left on each plate. Jarrod called him the human garbage disposal. He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Blanchard and his brother, Clifton Blanchard. He is survived by his 3 daughters, 1 son-in-law, 7 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren. He was very much loved and will be truly missed. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, January 29, 2018, from 12:00PM until the time of funeral services at 1:00PM.
