Herbert Bayless Bell passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the age of 79. He was a native of Greenville, TN and a long-time resident of Louisiana. Herbert retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. At one time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed his yearly trek to Canada to participate in bird counting to preserve various species of birds. He appreciated his senior motorcycle group and his time at the Spar with the group. After a tragic motorcycle accident, he lost his left leg and then joined the Amputee Coalition Support Group. He was also a past member of the Girl Scouts Organization. Herbert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn; his son, Timothy Bell and wife, Kyong Ok Han Bell of Chapel Hill, NC; his daughter, Nerissa Ida Bell Montgomery and husband, Eric of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Melissa Shawna Bell and fiancée, Albert LaBleu of Lake Charles, LA, Timothy S. Bell, Jr. and Jamie Hana Bell of Chapel Hill, NC, and Abigail Mackenzie Montgomery of Baton Rouge, LA; his sister, Evelyn Carter and husband, Bobby of Greenville, TN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and super special friends, Bruce and Pam Fletcher of Deming, NM and Carl Floyd of Sulphur, LA. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Genevieve Bell; his brother, Edward Bell and his infant twin.
Visitation will be held at Henning Memorial United Methodist Church, 404 S. Huntington St., Sulphur, LA, 70663, on Friday, December 9, 2017, from 10:00AM until the time of memorial services at 11:00AM. Inurnment will immediately follow on the grounds of the church.
