Henry George Scanlan, Jr., “George”, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at age of 91. He was born on December 16, 1932, in Chickasaw, AL. George served his country as a member of the US Navy in the Korean War, as a navigator on the USS Lanning. He held many positions in the Masonic organization and the Shriners. George was in the life insurance business where he earned the designation of CLU. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He and his wife traveled around Europe, Canada, Nova Scotia, Hawaii, Mexico, and New Zealand. George is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly Braud Scanlan; son, Henry Scanlan, III (Rhonda); siblings, William J. Scanlan (Shirley), Mary Cleveland, Henrietta Philips, and Dorothy Street; and a host of other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cornelia Scanlan; and siblings, Freeman Mack Scanlan, and Sarah Jane Allen. Greenoaks handled arrangements.
