She passed away peacefully Friday, March 01, 2013. Helen was surrounded by her family at the time of her departure at Amber Terrace in Baton Rouge. She was 91. Helen was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on March 04, 1921. She resided in New Jersey, Florida and Baton Rouge until her death. Helen was preceded in death by her mother and father: Helen&Dennis Toups; husband: Jim Bowen; grandson: Craig; great-grandson: Christopher; a brother: Dennis Toups; and a sister: Joyce Thorn. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Ronda&husband Sam, Randy, Nadara, Shannon&wife Christina, and Jaime; 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces&nephews. Helen is survived by one sister: Beverly Berner; two daughters: Nadara Willis&husband Ivy, Elaine Charpia&husband Ron; son: Jim Bowen&wife Judi. Helen bowled, square danced, belonged to the Ridge Riders of Florida, was an artist and crafter. Helen enjoyed traveling and gardening. Her family would like to extend many thanks to the nurses from Clarity Hospice and the wonderful staff of Amber Terrace/Memory Lane during this most difficult time. Helen had belonged to Lake Sherwood Village Bell Choir. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Saturday, March 9, from 12:00pm until the memorial service and celebration of life in the chapel at 2:00pm.
