

Helen Sieberth, 90, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Detroit, Michigan (Rosedale Park), passed away peacefully on October 20 in her home. Helen was a lovely, sweet and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who embraced life with energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 68 years, John “Jack” Sieberth; 3 children, Larry (Ming), Jim (Kathrin) and Joni (Jim); grandchildren, Paul, Helen, Laura, Jonathan (Laura), Samantha, Kyle and 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Albert DeVic. Helen was a graduate of Wayne State University, majoring in Music Education and an accomplished pianist. As well as a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools, she taught piano lessons in both Detroit and Baton Rouge, was a music teacher and Director of St. Luke’s School until 1976. She attended Louisiana State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1973, and was a counselor in the EBRP public school system prior to retirement. She was a lifelong member of Delta Omicron Sorority and the Baton Rouge Music Club. Together, Helen and Jack traveled extensively, visiting and enjoying many countries. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ellen DeVic, and a great-grandson. The family wishes to thank Helen’s caregivers, Rita, Trisha, Pat and Kim along with Pinnacle Home Health and Hospice Care. Visitation will be held at GreenOaks Funeral Home on October 26 from 4-7pm followed by a memorial service. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
