Helen Livingston Mayer, a native of Piave, MS and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on December 6, 2018, at the age of 93, after living a full and rewarding life. Helen worked for thirty years for the state of Louisiana in the Secretary of State’s office, as Chief Accountant for Wade O Martin, Jr. In her final years there, she briefly served as Under Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism. During this time, she also served in several offices for the Cuna Mutual Credit Union. Helen was a long time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, James William Livingston and Marie Henley Livingston of Crosby, MS; her loving husband, Ralph H Mayer; brothers James Livingston and wife Evelyn Livingston, Jack Livingston and wife Kathleen Livingston, and Jerry Livingston; and daughter-in-law, Karen W Mayer; and her pet companion, Gracie. Helen is survived by her sister, Pauline Livingston Carter and husband Julius Carter; sister-in-law Shirley Jackson and husband Harold; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her son, R Scott Mayer and wife Claire B Mayer; grandchildren, Erin Marie Mayer, Joshua Wallace Mayer and wife Emily McMillan Mayer; step-grandchildren Anna C Anderson, Charles Anderson and wife Melanie, Elizabeth Anderson Pendarvis; and five step-great grandchildren, Annalise and Wren Anderson, and James, Pierce, and Ella Claire Pendarvis. The family wanted to offer special thanks to The Carpenter House and their staff and to Helen’s many friends and the staff at Williamsburg Senior Living Center. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, December 9, from 5:00 pm-8:00pm. Visitation will resume on Monday, December 10, from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Funeral services will begin 12:00pm at Greenoaks Chapel, with pastor, Dr. Larry Ezell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen’s name to Broadmoor Baptist Church or The Carpenter House of Baton Rouge.
