“The Crown of Righteousness Awaits Me” 2 Timothy 4:8 Helen Louise Wyble Mayeux, native of Melville, LA, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the age of 96. Helen is survived by her children, Daudrille McClanahan, Dale Mayeux (Dorene), Darcey Wiggins (Milton, Jr.), Daria West (Billy), Decky Pritchard (Robert III), Dean Mayeux (Sandra Romero), Dayna Mayeux (Mona), Devin Mayeux (Sheri); 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Mayeux; son, Daryl Mark Mayeux; daughter, Deryl Mary Mayeux; parents, Henry and Leonie Wyble; sisters, Evelyn Breaux and Ione Viola; and son-in-law, James T. McClanahan. Helen has deservingly earned her “crown” as a loving, caring and giving wife and mother of 10. She loved her family dearly, grandchildren were an extra bonus. Family gatherings were huge and always full of laughter, stories and lots of food. An active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for some 50 yrs. and later St. Jude Catholic Church, Helen instilled in her children the values and importance of a Christian home. After graduation from Spencer Business College, Helen worked for the State of LA. Then while raising her family, found time volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, working for her church and children’s school. Her many interests and hobbies included an extensive study of her family’s genealogy, crocheting, travel and exercising for 50+ yrs. with the same group of friends. She especially enjoyed the five weeks of family camping every summer for 17 yrs. In addition to camping, she traveled all over the world, visiting various parts of Asia, Europe, and most of the 50 states. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 3pm until 6pm. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 9am until the time of funeral services at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
