A former 17-year employee of Kaiser Aluminum having worked in Baton Rouge, Gramercy and Oakland, Calif., he died at 3:20 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs. He was a native of Maringouin and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was 87 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday was from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes Thursday at 8 a.m. until religious service in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. William Brewer. Interment with military honors will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loie Harris Abbott; six sons, Harry B. Abbott Jr. and his wife Patricia, John M. Abbott and his wife Kathy of Garland, Texas, Roger S. Abbott and his wife Sallie, Richard M. Abbott and his wife Joan, Warren T. Abbott of Houston and Brian W. Abbott and his wife Jacqlyn; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron W. and Mildred Kreitzer Abbott; and his six siblings, Myron, Julia, Lillian, Dorothy, Lena Bell and Walter. His six sons will serve as pallbearers. He was a Mason and a member of Acacia Shrine Temple.
