Gwendolyn “Gwen” Major, a resident of Watson, LA, passed away on April 18, 2021, at the age of 77. She danced through life with her husband of nearly 60 years, Joseph “Ruffin” Major, Jr. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, nanny and second mom to many. Generosity was one for greatest attributes. If she could give it, she gave it - “No” was simply not in her vocabulary. She was a long-time employee at BREC where she was known lovingly as Mrs. G. She loved her family the most and was always up for an adventure. Traveling the states for any grandkids sporting event. Football, softball, baseball, track, golf, power lifting – she even followed other people’s grandkids. Cross country moves and family vacations were always filled with tons of laughs along the way. She loved baking cakes, cookies and candy for any holiday to share and she definitely made sure you had your favorite meal on your birthday weekend. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years Joseph R. Major, Jr.; her children, Kim Major Roddy, Joseph “Tres” Major and wife Morgan; grandchildren, Terrell Roddy, Jr and wife Robin, Meghan Roddy, Micah Major, Mason Major, Madden Major and one great grandchild Miller Roddy; sister, Carrie Duhe. She is preceded in death by her mother, Essie Mae Montesano; father, Jules Vernon (JV) Hebert; step-mother, Pearl “DeeDee” Hebert; sisters, Carol Wells and Judi Young. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on April 21, 2021, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.
