Guy S. Long, born Feb. 26, 1943, in Doyline, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010. A resident of Baton Rouge, he worked as a machinist for more than 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the company of his variety of pets. He enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle and long days in the woods. A loving husband and an adoring father who always put his family before anything else, he will be wonderfully remembered and sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Long and Ava M. Long. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Rivett Long, of Baton Rouge; son, David R. Long, of Melville; daughter-in-law, Karen J. Long, of Melville; daughters, Robin L. Touw, of Raeford, N.C., and Joanna L. Mills, of Mobile, Ala.; brother, B.F. Long, of Escondito, Calif.; and sister, Eloise Sheffield and her husband, S.J., of Haughton. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rivett, Corey Rivett, Jessie Lee Ellis, Kim Jarreau, Donald Maddox, and Ray Calloway. Reserve pallbearer will be Donnie Mills.
