Gratian Gonsalves passed away on August 14, 2022, peacefully at his home. He was a residence of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for 25 years. Gratian was a devout Catholic, who sang in the choir at the Christ the King Catholic Church at Louisiana State University. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In 1980, he provided his family with many wonderful opportunities when deciding to move from India to the United States of America. After all his hard work and dedication, he became the owner of Trinity Shipping Agency in the New Orleans, LA and Baton Rouge, LA areas. In Gratian’s free time, he would enjoy gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Gratian will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Gratian is survived by wife, Flo Gonsalves, of 50 beautiful years; his three children, Neil Gonsalves and his wife, Lauren, of Houston, TX, Reyna Grant and her husband, Matthew, of Lafayette, LA and Rohan Gonsalves, of Mangalore, India; seven treasured grandchildren, Natalya Grant, Bryn Grant, John Matthew Grant, Adler Grant, Ethan Gonsalves, Faith Gonsalves, and Ollie Gonsalves; his mother-in-law, Betty Sequeira, of Mangalore, India, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Gratian is preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Alice Gonsalves; his father-in-law, Billy Sequeira, as well as many other loved ones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Mother of The Church in Lafayette, for Gratian Gonsalves, 84, who passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, peacefully at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Visitation will be observed at St. Mary Mother of The Church in Lafayette on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 8:30 am until the time of service.
Inurnment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery, in Lafayette, LA.
