"Was born on January 9, 1926 to Armand P. and Laure Elizabeth Blanchard Couvillion, in Alexandria, Louisiana and entered the gates of heaven on November 26 at 9:30am at the age of 92. She grew up in Alexandria and married her childhood sweetheart, Warren Joseph Mayeux, Sr. with whom she shared 54 years of sacred marriage. Lovingly answering to "Gennie, Mom, Grannie, WhoWho and Aunt Gennie". She and Warren together nurtured a family of 7 sons, their wives, 15 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren and never lost her beauty nor grace. They made their home in Baton Rouge in 1946 and made it a better place. A graduate of Providence Academy in Alexandria and she attended Louisiana College in Pineville. She was an excellent cook and talented seamstress. She was a superb wife, mother, hostess and friend beloved by all who knew her. The Mayeux home was always open to friends and family. Their hospitality was unmatched. She loved her family most of all but also enjoyed tennis and golf as well as her Ladies Gin Group. She taught all of her sons to drive cars and boats and several of the grandchildren to waterski at their camp on False River! A devout Catholic and longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, she served may years as a Eucharistic Minister at Ollie Steele Burden where she brought much comfort to the seriously ill or homebound. Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband and their son, Glenn Richard Mayeux of Liberty Hill, TX., her parents and her only sister, Nellie Couvillion Kramer of Alexandria. She is survived by sons: Warren Joseph Mayeux, Jr. (Janis) Baton Rouge; David Bryan Mayeux (Evelyn) Baton Rouge; Stephen Michael Mayeux (Joy) Baton Rouge; Douglas Craig Mayeux (Ingrid) Norman, Oklahoma; Armand Pierre Mayeux (Kim) Keller, Texas; Bradley Gaston Mayeux (Michelle) Baton Rouge. She was beloved by grandchildren Philip Mayeux (Erin), Jennie Chimento (Corey), Kim Bryan (Barry), Lance Mayeux (Lori), Jeff Mayeux, Betsy DeBenedetto (Jeff), Sammy Mayeux (Molly), Cristyn Dyess (Lane), Lindsey Percival (Justin), Sydney MacPherson (Mitch), Austin Mayeux, Taylor Mayeux (Molly), Lane Mayeux, Allison Mayeux and Hoyt Mayeux. Great grandchildren who treasure her memory are: Kennedy Bryan, Caleb Bryan, Camille Chimento, Adeline Chimento, Cole Mayeux, Peighton Mayeux, Jackson Hodges, Brody Mayeux, Mia Hodges, Maryn Mayeux, Macey Mayeux, Tony DeBenedetto, Sam Mayeux, Jake Mayeux and Luke Dyess. Aunt Gennie will be long remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thanks for loving and tender care given by Ella Freeman, Carolyn Bienemy, Erika Ventress, Shalondra Watson, Sharletta Douglas, Cheryl Norwood, Rosemary Alexander. Gennie was married to Bob Bogan. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd. from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 27th. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, November 28th from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be all grandsons of the beloved Grannie/WhoWho. Donations can be made to American Heart Society.
