Gage D Ricks, Jr. pushed away the blanket of life and peacefully passed into the Kingdom of God on Sunday, January 6, 2013. He was in the presence of his beloved wife of 33 years, Nannie Pearl Ricks and family members, Louis McLin, Patricia Archer, Lauren Archer, Warren Kinchen, and Matt LeBlanc at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. Gage was a retired Assistant Fire Chief with the Baton Rouge Fire Dept for 33 years and a US Army Veteran. After retirement, Gage and Nan resided in Chesbrough where they raised beef cattle, dogs, and enjoyed hunting and fishing and shared a passion for country music, especially Ernest Tubb. Gage was an expressive and compassionate man who loved and lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and always lent a helping hand to others in need. A special thank you to Kentwood Manor Nursing Home and Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from 10 AM until the service at 2 PM officiated by Rev. Joe Starns. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his loving wife, Nannie Pearl Ricks; four step-children, Patricia Archer of Mandeville, Louis McLin of Baptist, Cynthia Farr and husband, Randall of Baton Rouge, and Warren Kinchen of Baptist; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Shelton and husband, Sales of Texas City, TX, Lauren Archer and fiancé, Matt Leblanc of New Orleans, Blake Hoyt and wife, Amanda of Pensacola, FL, and Chase Hoyt of Hammond; four great grandchildren; four brothers, Ray Ricks his twin brother of Satsuma, Joseph Ricks and wife, Esther of Baton Rouge, Dan Johnson and wife Lillian of Bethleham, GA, and Alton Westmoreland and wife, Era Jane of Denham Springs; sister, Doris Jones of Amite; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gage D, Sr. and Alma Lambert Ricks; step mother, Ida Singleton; sisters, Louise and Alec Beysselance, Mary and Ted Bergeron, and Margie and Hillary Simmons; and son in law, Harold Burton Archer.
