It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Frank "Jack” Gomez, Jr., who left us peacefully on January 18, 2024. Born February 6, 1938 in Plaquemine, Jack lived a life filled with love, joy and music. His warmth and joie de vivre resonated in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Known to all as Jack, he was distinguished by his ever-present smile and readiness to embrace those around him. Always there for his children, Jack was a family man at heart and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children. Jack was a man of strong faith, greatly devoted to his religion. His Catholicism shaped his life and served as a moral compass for his family. He sought to lead by example, consistently demonstrating the virtues he cherished.
Jack held Bachelor and Master in Music degrees from LSU. He valued his musical career and cherished the opportunities to share his gift. He was known for his commanding stage presence and his love for performing. His passion led him to establish extensive connections in the music industry, with his performances at weddings, funerals, and various events, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of attending. His sweet, lyric baritone voice will be missed by many. Jack's legacy endures through his choral leadership with the Baton Rouge Diocesan Choir, The Baton Rouge Choral Society and Director of Music at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In addition to his over 50 years of service to the Baton Rouge community, he founded and owned his own company, Omni Forms/Print Specialists.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Teresa Jung Gomez, and his children: Elissa Turnham (Rob), Elaine Gomez-Greenfield (Lisa Semper), Frank "Jay" Gomez III (Esther Ebeling), and Adrienne Young (Ken).
