He was a retired chemical engineer and plant manager for Goodyear in both Plaquemine andNiagara Falls, N.Y., with 35 years of service. A resident of Baton Rougeand a native ofKansasville, Wis., he died at 5 a.m.Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge at the age of 85. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Monday from noon until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Joseph Arogyasami, celebrant. Interment will be atGreenoaksMemorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Harig Cox; daughter, Jan Cox of Austin, Texas; three sons, Frank M. Cox of Pahrump, Nev., Phil A. Cox and his wife, Mary Dyne, of Houston, and Jeff T. Cox of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Genevieve Cox of Kenosha, Wis., and Marcella Candlin of Madison, Wis.; brother, Tom M. Cox of Kenosha; four grandchildren, Damian Cox and his wife, Adrienne, Conlin Cox, Brienne Cox and Erin Dyne Cox; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. Cox and Margaret Quirk Cox; three sisters and four brothers. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Sherwood Forest Country Club and the Louisiana Chemical Association. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
